CHRIST
IS KING
“But whoever loves God is known by God” (1 Corinthians 8:3).
There’s a difference between knowing about God and being known by Him.
Many people can quote Scripture, debate theology, or list church traditions. But knowledge on its own doesn’t equal relationship.
Think of it like this: you can know everything about a celebrity — their birthday, favorite food, even their kids’ names. But unless you sit at their table, unless they welcome you as family, you don’t actually know them.
That’s what Paul is pointing to in 1 Corinthians. He isn’t impressed by how much information someone can carry in their head. He’s pointing to the reality of being loved, recognized, and called by God Himself.
Jesus confronted this same issue with the religious leaders:
“You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me” (John 5:39).
The Pharisees had all the knowledge, but they missed the Person standing in front of them. Jesus was clear — information about God isn’t enough. The invitation is to relationship.
The Greek word Paul uses for “known” in this passage carries a rich meaning. It doesn’t just mean God is aware of you. It means to be fully understood, deeply valued, and intimately connected.
Being “known by God” is about being more than a face in the crowd. It means God sees you, understands your heart, and calls you His child.
Paul drives this home in Galatians 4:9:
“But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, how can you turn back again…”
Notice the shift — Paul says the greater reality isn’t that you know God, but that He knows you. Your identity rests not on your performance but on His love.
So often, the Christian life is presented as a list of things we need to do for God: read more, pray more, love Him more. While these things are good, they miss the order that Jesus Himself gave.
He didn’t tell His disciples, “Prove your love to me.” He said, “As I have loved you, so you must love one another” (John 13:34).
The starting place is His love. Being known by Him means you first receive before you give. You accept His grace, His forgiveness, His delight in you. And from that place, you love others — not out of duty, but out of overflow.
John put it plainly:
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God” (1 John 4:7).
To be known by God means you are not defined by your past mistakes, your failures, or how “strong” your faith feels today.
It means your value is not measured by your performance but by His perfect love.
It means you can walk with peace, knowing you don’t have to earn His favor — you already have it.
And it means when you wear your faith — whether in words, actions, or even what’s printed across your chest — you’re reminding yourself (and telling the world): I belong to Him. I am known.
So how do we live as people who are “known by Him”?
Rest in His love daily. Instead of trying to prove yourself to God, start your mornings by remembering you’re already His.
Let love flow outward. If God knows you and loves you, then the most natural response is to extend that love to others — even when it’s not easy.
Walk with confidence. You don’t have to carry insecurity or comparison. Being known by God gives you a steady identity no one can take away.
At Known by Him, this isn’t just a nice phrase we put on a hoodie. It’s a declaration of truth.
When you wear the words Known by Him, you’re carrying more than fabric and ink — you’re carrying a reminder that you are loved, chosen, and seen by the Creator of the universe.
It’s a message to yourself when you feel overlooked.
It’s a conversation starter with someone searching for hope.
It’s an anchor when life feels unstable.
Being known by Him is not just the heart of our brand — it’s the heartbeat of the gospel.
To know about God is good. To know God personally is better.
But to be known by Him — that’s life-changing.
